What It's All About

A Word from the Organiser

If you like Mini-Mach, you will love the Adventure Gathering. Similar in style, but smaller.

Same chilled out friendliness but where this little show is heading means its not the same at all.

Not so long ago a Sunday drive-out with the family on quiet roads was a real treat. In the 1960's all of us enjoyed the pleasures of newly affordable individual transportation, it really was a new world that gave us a real sense of freedom. Like the 1950's, the motorcar and motorbike became precious things to own and 'climate change' had not entered our thoughts.

With the covid pandemic turning our world upside down, cost of living inflation, increased prices at the fuel pumps and daily news enforcing the idea that the use of fossil fuels are affecting the life of our planet, it's hard for anyone to know which way to turn. When your hard earned vehicle chalks out a part of your identity, perhaps it's now when we all have to say, "what next?"

“Wisdom demands a new orientation of science and technology toward the organic, the gentle, the elegant and beautiful,” said the author of the seminal book 'Small is Beautiful', E.F. Schumacher. He also said, “an ounce of practice is generally worth more than a ton of theory.”

And that is exactly where this adventure plan begins.

You Don't Need to go Far

For a start, you don't need to go far. To help us learn how to travel less expensively it's useful to be reminded that adventure need not be defined by distance. Here in beautiful mid Wales, some of my best rides have been within 50 miles of where I live. The self-fulfilment from having had a great ride to build up those all essential stories, is actually on our doorstep and this summertime "Adventure Gathering" will help you find them.

What you get at the Adventure Gathering

  • Expert Workshops - tyre wear, engines, safer riding, cheaper adventuring

  • Talk by Nick Sanders - how he kept world biking for over 40 years

  • Inspirational films in the Cinema - adventures from around the world

  • Small group ride-outs with instructors - IAM or police rated riding

  • Off road green laneing - sign up to Steph Jeavons's off-road school

  • Craft beer and cocktails in the onsite Biker Bar - live music every night

  • Home cooked food from Dr Caroline's kitchen - proper grub, proper low prices
